Obstructions are everywhere. Sometimes, we can work around them, but in many cases we have to include them in a way that doesn't detract from the subject. I couldn't move the light poles, so I created a frame by placing them at about the same distance from either side of the photo. I like the not-so-subtle effect of the One Way signs pointing toward the diner, as if to say, "Look this way!" The garbage cans are small in comparison to the poles, so their impact is minimal. It's New York. No one should be surprised that we have garbage here. It adds authenticity. ;-) I did clone out an empty beverage cup that was rolling around in the street, and I used layers to erase a worker in the diner whose face was prominent in the original photo (luckily, I made multiple exposures). But the light poles, the garbage cans, the fire hydrant, and the delivery bike are all part of the composition, for better or for worse. There's a lot going on in the city. Sometimes, you have to work with what's in front of you. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
